Untuk kali ini akan membahas tentang WEB SCIENCE. Sebelum mengenal lebih jauh tentang web science, kita mengenal dulu apa yang dimaksud web science itu sendiri. Web science sendiri terdiri dari kata web, yaitu sebuah ruang informasi (gambar, tulisan, suara, dll) yang sangat berguna dan dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh user melalui browser dan merupakan teknologi yang mempercepat akselerasi peradaban manusia. Sedangkan science itu sendiri berkaitan dengan Ilmu pengetahuan yang dapat digunakan oleh semua orang.
Sehingga dapat disimpulkan Web science adalah suatu ilmu pengetahuan yang diberikan untuk membuat dan memanipulasi web yang ada dari system informasi dengan menggunakan internet.
Kelahiran Web Science didorong oleh pergerakan generasi Web. Sejak diperkenalkan Web (www / World Wide Web) pada tahun 1990 oleh Tim Berners-Lee hingga sekarang web terus berkembang sesuai kemajuan zaman dan teknologi.
Web Science didirikan pada tahun 2006 dengan nama Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI). Web Sicence ini awalnya adalah hasil dari Memorandum of Understanding antara MIT CSAIL dan University of Southampton, ECS. Sejak pertama kali diluncurkan, konsep Web Science sudah menyebar secara meluas dan mengukuhkan diri sebagai area aktifitas yang penting.
